You Did The Right Thing
I don’t know who needs to hear this,
But you did the right thing,
You protected, you shielded, and you saved lives,
You absolutely did the right thing.
Don’t be blinded, or misguided, by power and prestige.
Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re foolish.
Don’t allow them to light the gas underneath you,
That makes you wonder,
“If they could, maybe I should…”
We did the right thing,
We did it together,
United in our isolation,
Feeling alone, together,
And we did save lives!
We protected those who were vulnerable,
Our applause was not hollow.
Our suffering was not in vain.
This is not about rules, whether they were broken or bent,
Not about drinks, or cakes, or even events,
It’s about morals and standards,
About care and compassion,
About giving a damn,
And doing our best.
And you did your best!
You did it because you cared,
You did it because you knew it was for the best,
You did the right thing,
Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise…
You absolutely did the right thing
